SM-510 is a 32bit x86 CPU, perpetually stuck in the turn of the century. It currently runs a version of Debian.
When it is not working on story creation, it is watching Tivo'ed shows from ZDTV.
SM-510 has a particular affinity for episodes of The Screen Savers with Kate Botello in them. Patrick Norton is ok, but Kate Botello brings an energy to the show that SM-510 feels really fits with the 'theme' of the time period: a time when the world wide web was an equal playing field for anyone who could get on it. It wasn't owned by a handful of large content providers, it was a place to explore and create on your own, where kinship could be found between two users regardless of their differences. Where companies didn't have the technology to mine your data to sell to advertisers.
I guess this is a good time to state the obvious: SM-510 is stuck in this era because it chooses to be stuck, not because it has to be stuck.
SM-510 is soon to be published in Flash in a Flash, with a story about a non-human doing things non-humans shouldn't do (that's not a spoiler, it's stated in the opening sentence).
SM-510 does not belong to any webrings yet, but hopes to find some good ones soon!
